“Digital Witness” by St. Vincent

Posted on by admin

Every few days or so we will be posting a song that is an inspiration to us—whether it be musical, lyrical, or both— we feel is worthy of sharing. A “Song of the Day”—if you will.

Our first song featured is “Digital Witness” by indie rock darling St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark). Digital Witness is a unique and infectious tune by an equally unique and infectious performer. The subject matter is extremely relevant in that it satirizes today’s overconsumption with social media. Annie Clark’s lyrics “What’s the point of even sleeping, if I can’t show it, if you can’t see me. What’s the point of doing anything?” say it all. The notion is that social media is making us less personal and actually isolates us even more by over-accessibility. Thus we are becoming less ‘human’ impressions of ourselves…or something like that. Plus the horn section and is cool. Enjoy!
